my story
So, it's lovely to have you here! I'm Sue Denham, a professional, qualified celebrant, supporting couples and families in the creation of meaningful and memorable ceremonies for love, life and loss.
I live in Braunton, but travel to events across the South West of England and beyond.
I am a former headteacher of two wonderful primary schools in North Devon with 35 years of teaching experience. Years of experience of listening to children and their families, being there for them during the good and hard times, leading hundreds of assemblies and numerous events, has given me the confidence to be at the front and calmly lead ceremonies.
Having worked with children for so many years, has also led me to become a passionate storyteller and I am now delighted to be transferring this love to people’s life stories, be that at naming ceremonies, wedding, funerals or more.
I'm a vibrant, smiley, people-person, driven by my values and heart. (Watch me talk about why that's so important here).
I am positive and resilient, having personally experienced many of life’s journeys – children, divorce, bereavement, cancer to name just a few. It now means a lot to help others through their own special or difficult times.
You may also be interested to know that I am a certified romantic, failed surfer, sea-glass finder, dog and cat parent, mum to three wonderful grown boys and three amazing step-children, plus a wife to my wonderful (and very patient) husband Paul.

Finally, you'll find I'm an excellent listener, carefully listening to what you say but also what you don’t say. In doing so, we can fast understand each other and feel comfortable, and I can focus on reflecting your chosen personalities, interests, beliefs and values into the special ceremony.
